DH recently had to teach a high school subject he had never taught before. The thought of coming up with a semester's worth of new curriculum was pretty overwhelming, but thankfully he had a wonderful mentor. While choosing a card to thank her for her help and support over the last term, DH mentioned to me how she was soon going to go on maternity leave. Naturally I had to I whip up a quick baby cardigan to go with the card.

The pattern is Debbie Bliss' Ribbed baby jacket

I added a seed stitch border because the stockinette was rolling more than I'd like.

I also made Gudrun Johnston's Little Love hat to go with:

These were knit from my Snowdrop legwarmers pattern (originally published in the now defunct Magknits and available for free here). As soon as I weave in the ends and block them I can pack them up for a long journey to Australia to join my little sister, who requested them for Christmas. (Merry Christmas in February, sis!).

So now lets pretend that it's not currently mind-numbingly hot in Australia and that she'll get plenty of wear out of them :p
